What is Google Search Console?

Google’s Search Console is a valuable tool worth exploring. You’ve probably wondered: why doesn’t my website show up in Google? How can I get my page to appear at the top of search results? What more can I do to increase my visibility to the top?

Every business needs search engine optimization, but in practice, it can seem overwhelming. Google Search Console offers a wealth of free information to help you with search engine optimization, which is well worth exploring.

Google developed a service called Webmaster Tools. However, just a short while later, it was renamed Google Search Console - what on earth is that?

What is Google Search Console?

Search Engine Optimization — do you know what it is? Let’s start with that. The goal of search engine optimization is to get a website to appear higher in Google’s search results. Google Search Console puts you in the shoes of a search robot — you see your website just like Google’s search engine robots!

You can monitor how your site appears in search results and also find out how people react to your search results. When you can analyze this data, search engine optimization becomes much more manageable. Google Search Console is an excellent tool for optimizing your site’s search engine visibility, and it’s also free!

Want to see your website appear higher in Google search results than your competitors? It’s time to get started with Google Search Console. How to do it? Kubla will tell you!

What are the useful features of Google Search Console?

To get you started smoothly, let’s go through a few of the main features of Google Search Console.

Search Traffic

When a potential customer enters the word “bike shop” in a Google search box, for example, as a bike shop owner, you naturally want your site to appear in the results. Search Traffic tells you another critical piece of information for search engine optimization as follows:

  • What keywords do visitors use to reach your site?
  • How many times does your site actually appear in the search results when a visitor performs a search?
  • How many people who see your site in the search results click their way to your site?

Search Traffic also tells you, among other things, the number of internal links on your site and reveals Google’s opinion of your site’s mobile usability. This opinion is worth listening to, as Google is excellent at analyzing user behavior, giving you many trump cards when it comes to search engine optimization.

Google Index

Google’s search engine bots have a goal. They want to add every informative and good web page to the index. With all the world’s web pages in its repository, Google displays a portion of those pages in search results.

The pages are selected based on how well they match the visitor’s search intent. Google Search Console lets you monitor this too.

So the Google Index section lets you see how Google has indexed your site. But you don’t want your site to be in a warehouse; you want it to be visible to everyone! This section allows you to request to have your site removed from the repository.

Search Appearance

As the title might suggest, the Google Search Console and its Search Appearance tell you how your site looks in Google’s search results.

When you search for a business on Google, you’ll often find lots of different information about it. You might see, for example, how visitors have rated the business, the address, and of course, the page title and a short meta description.

In addition, site links direct visitors directly to the site’s most popular content. For instance, if the most popular page on a site is Services, visitors can click through to that page from a Google search without first visiting the homepage.

Crawl

Unlike Search Appearance, Crawl shows you how Google sees your site. However, you want to look good in Google’s eyes, so this section is worth looking through.

You’ve probably come across pages that disappear behind a ‘404 Error Code’ and wondered where the page has gone. Crawl Errors will help you with this; it will tell you if your site has crawling problems.

The Crawl section of the Google Search Console allows you to visit pages that take you to a broken address.

You can also see from Crawl Stats how often Google visits your pages — yes, Google bots are your visitors too. If bots like your site, they will visit often and download content from your site. You’ll want bots to bounce around your site regularly, and Crawl Stats will show you their movements.

Tip! With Fetch, you can see exactly what Google sees on your site, which is mainly just text. It is important to include text on your website as Google will not like your site if only you have images or videos. In its search results, Google only displays pages that fit its specific criteria and that visitors enjoy.

In summary, Google Search Console is a tool that provides a lot of interesting and useful information and is definitely worth using for search engine optimization.
