Kublans working remotely in Croatia 

We tested remote working by leaving the whole Kubla team in Croatia for a week. The ancient city of Split on the Adriatic Sea provided a stunning setting. However, during the week, we were primarily focused on client work and company development, so it was by no means a holiday trip.

Even today, many companies hesitate to offer working remotely, let alone organize a company-wide trip abroad. I interviewed the Kublans immediately after the trip and asked them what they experienced while working in a place full of tourist attractions.

The key to a successful digital marketing job is to prepare in advance. Deadlines and meetings pre-marked in the calendar structured the working week similarly to other weeks at the Finnish office. 

Another important factor that came up in the interviews was the shared space where we worked together. We had a great setting, and the team stayed together.

The importance of togetherness was echoed in the responses of each interviewee. In our free time, we organized outings together, explored the local foods, scenes and tasted local wines and beers. It was great to travel and get to know the colleagues in our free time in the sunny, picturesque landscapes.

Getting away from home also allowed us to work together on more significant projects. Many were surprised by how much we got done and kept outside interruptions to a minimum. 

We developed new features both for our clients and for our own service offerings; we’ll be sharing more about these in the coming months!

The trip was a great success, and everyone interviewed would be willing to go again - even immediately! Kubla definitely recommends testing working remotely at least now and then.
